Another way of Learning (Eklavya) Part 1

film By Comet Media Foundation Another way of learning (1991) The problems of school education in India are often associated with two paradoxical images. On the one side are a large number of children, who are effectively left out of the school system. The other image is of painfully over-burdened school-going children who are trudging towards adulthood through an educational process that demands cramming and stifles creativity. This pair of films tells the story of a unique educational programme implemented by the voluntary group Eklavya, that has succeeded in tackling both these dimensions. Even though these films are essentially about an effort to provide more effective and meaningful opportunities to rural children, the experiences and insights recorded here could be instructive for parents and educators everywhere. - Rajni Bakshi, Senior Development Journalist
